Playing in my head

Road Trip Wednesday is a ‘Blog Carnival,’ where YA Highway's contributors post a weekly writing- or reading-related question that begs to be answered. In the comments, you can hop from destination to destination and get everybody's unique take on the topic.

This Week's Topic:
What is your Summer soundtrack?

Thanks to the wonders of hemispheres mine is actually a winter soundtrack. I actually mainly listen to music when I run (to try to keep the boredom at bay) because i prefer quiet when I write. I get lyrics in my head and then they infect what comes up on the screen.

My soundtrack this winter has be affected by my princess learning guitar. So lately it's been all about Back in Black and Boulevard of Broken Dreams. The latter has really resonated. Something about walking an empty road keep playing in my head as i think about my next story. At the moment it's a billion possibilities but I think it just might have a road trip.

What about you?

  1. Likewise--no music while I'm writing (or reading for that matter... or any other non-musical creative pursuit; and if I'm playing guitar or piano while music's playing, I'm playing along with it!). I don't really have a summer (or winter--that's the trouble with the internet: it's so easy to be hemispherist. Sorry!) playlist, but I managed to do something with this week's challenge. :)

  2. I think every season needs a soundtrack. Winter shouldn't be left out. My summer soundtrack (I'm up north) has been dictated by the MC in my current wip. I write YA so it's filled with peppy pop. :)

    1. peppy pop is fun. I guess rock works for winter, a bit darker...

  3. I love a road trip book! Go for it. Sadly, I'm so out of touch with music at the moment. When I get me time, I listen to audio books!

  4. I've been editing lately, which is something I can do with music. Just been listening to my iTunes on shuffle lately...through which I discovered that I own a lot more Josh Groban than I thought.

i love comments. they make me happy.
